LUNGS by Duncan Macmillan—Final Project for MFA Directing IV

an auto-ethnographic installation presented Monday, April 22nd, 3:30pm EST

“In this moment the audience was called to cross the threshold from passive observer to active worldmaker. Accepting the invitation, they rose from their seats and joined me in the playing space. But the space was something different now–transformed by a collective agreement we made. The illusion constructed by the actors had given way to this material world being shaped by the collective. We were no longer “playing” or “pretending”; we were doing and forming. We were embodying the theoretical, materializing the imagined.”
